The Incarceration & Reentry Working Group supports efforts to decarcerate Illinois prisons, and address policy issues impacting people who are currently or formerly incarcerated in Illinois.

This working group aims to:

Develop a shared understanding of the current conditions in Illinois prisons, as well as the status of existing decarceration efforts in Illinois.

Identify opportunities to plug into existing decarceration efforts in Illinois.

Explore policy options to make changes in prisons across the state.

Develop a strategic framework for the implementation of current and future community and policy goals.

Coordinate efforts to address the needs of formerly incarcerated people and advocate for policies that improve reentry services.

Working group members will define additional goals, frameworks, and activities as they meet.
